Housteads is set high on a dramatic escarpment of Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site. There are some stunning panoramic views to enjoy from this ancient fortress, making it a fantastic attraction. Built in line with Hadrian’s Wall on top of the Whin Sill, a geological feature that runs right through Northumberland as a result of tectonic plate movement hundreds and thousands of millenia ago. The latrine at this fort is the best example you will see on the frontier. Don’t all rush at once!
