On this guided tour you will see Hadrian’s Wall, a Milecastle, and one of the best sections of the Vallum defence ditch.  Cawfields also boasts some of the best views across the rugged moorland vistas of the Northumberland National Park.

Cawfields located on Hadrian’s Wall has a wealth of archaeological information visible on the ground. Your guide Venutius, is a local Celtic Cheiftain, of the Brigante tribe. He will discuss life before the Roman invasion, life during the 368 years of Roman rule and the purpose of the Wall.

  • Guided tours are suitable for individuals or large coach groups
  • Clients must make their own way to Cawfields Car Park
  • Leisurely: A walk for reasonably fit people with a little country walking experience.
    It will include unsurfaced rural paths.
  • Toilets in the Car Park.
  • Car Park charge applicable, up to a maximum of £5 per day. Facilities maintained by the National Park Authority.
  • There are also local pubs along Hadrian’s Wall and in nearby villages of Haltwhistle, Haydon Bridge & Greenhead (Plan Your Visit Page)

This guided tour includes a walk (1 mile or less) along one of the most iconic central sections of The Roman Wall with easy access to Milecastle 42.  Additionally, we will take you to ONE of the museums listed below.
